W.O.W.

WOW invites all of you to join their meetings at the Community Center on the fourth Saturday of each month except for January and February when they do not meet. The December meeting is generally a luncheon and cookie exchange.

A little bit of history: As most are aware, they run a 50/50 raffle at the gate house the first Saturday of each spring and fall month, weather permitting. The raffle helps with our beautification projects around the lake.

The Riding Club

Riding Club Nostalgia

Here’s a few photos of the Riding Club of yesteryear, courtesy of Clyde Pratt. There’s more where these came from so, stay tuned. (Click to enlarge)

The Riding Club is a social club consisting of couples who meet the third Saturdays, February through December. The initiation fee is $25.00 and the dues are $25.00 every six months, payable in March and September. We receive new members when a club member invites a new couple to attend a meeting and after the club votes them in after their first visit.

Everyone is asked to take a turn at hosting the meeting which may be held at a member’s home or at the Community Center. When you host a meeting, you provide the entrée and each couple brings a side dish, and hors-d’oeuvre or a dessert. The host usually provides the non-alcoholic beverages. Everyone is asked to provide their own alcoholic drinks.

At a meeting, we start off with appetizers, then dinner followed by the meeting. The hosts for the evening usually provide some sort of game or entertainment. At least once or twice a year, the Club visits a restaurant instead of the meeting of the month. In the month of December, the Club provides club members a catered Christmas party at the Community Center. This past year the Club hosted the Fourth of July Boat Parade and plans to continue in 2010.

LW Emergency Management Agency (EMA)

EMA is composed of volunteers from our community who’ve been trained in emergency assistance procedures to help our community in the event of a major disaster (e.g. major weather event, tornado, earthquake, etc.) There’s going to be a first aid training class this Spring at the Community Building. Watch for a notice with more information on the Lake bulletin board.

IN TIMES OF EMERGENCY, CALL  911!

Should a disaster strike, it is our intention to be able to assist those in need should normal government reserve personnel be unable to respond.
